Subaru Unveils Ascent SUV Concept at NYIAS

Subaru's SUV lineup is dynamic, boasting compact and midsize models including the popular Outback, Crosstrek and the Forester. Despite its current variety, it has always been missing a three-row SUV ever since it discontinued the Tribeca in 2014.

Ever since then, we hoped that Subaru wasn't done with producing family-friendly, seven-passenger SUVs. Fortunately, Subaru confirmed that it will jump back into the three-row SUV game with the Ascent SUV concept, which we caught a glimpse of at the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS).

If you're following the auto show scene closely, you may remember the Viziv-7 SUV concept Subaru introduced at the Los Angeles auto show last year. The Ascent draws some similarities from the earlier concept, but is more mature with sophisticated styling that's sure to dominate here in Dallas. Under-the-hood the Subaru Ascent will come outfitted with a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine as standard. It will also equip Subaru's Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system.

The cabin is well-appointed to accommodate your family and four-legged friends with seven spacious seats and ample cargo space. The interior also features white and brown leather and an infotainment screen (which we will assume will include Subaru's Starlink infotainment platform).

While Subaru has yet to announce when it will launch the Ascent, we can anticipate its arrival sometime next year. As soon as we learn more, we will be sure to fill you in.
