The All-New Subaru Ascent Earns Top Scores From the IIHS

The newest addition to the Subaru lineup, the three-row Ascent, doesn't just give you the roominess that you need but also safety features at the top of their class. The Ascent, when equipped with available steering-responsive LED headlights, scored so high in a study by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) that it earned the Top Safety Pick+ (TSP+), which is no small feat.

CEO and chairman Yasushi Enami of Subaru Canada mentioned, "Safety isn’t just something we do, it’s part of everything we do.” Yasushi Enami went on to explain that the TSP+ from the IIHS reflected Subaru's commitment to safety. The value of safety for Subaru drivers is evident in the precision and meticulous design of the Ascent model's safety features.

The fact that the Ascent earned the highest possible ratings in all six crashworthiness tests conducted by the IIHS is in part thanks to the EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology, which helps alert drivers to possible dangers and will take measures to avoid a collision or mitigate the damage if it is unavoidable.

EyeSight® comes with a robust set of features that keeps drivers safe on the road. These features include:

  • EyeSight® Adaptive Cruise Control
  • EyeSight® Lane Keep Assist and Sway Warning
  • Pre-Collision Braking
  • Pre-Collision Throttle Management

However, that's not the only safety features that are available on the Ascent. There are also available features like lane change assist and rear cross-traffic alert, reverse automatic braking, 180-Degree Front Camera, and a blind-spot detection system.

Just as the Ascent joined the Subaru lineup, it has also just joined seven other Subaru models that have earned the TSP+. The Ascent is in good company with the Impreza, Legacy, WRX, Crosstrek, and Outback models as an exceptionally safe vehicle.
