The Importance of Good Tires

The area where your tires actually contact the road is very small, sometimes no bigger than the size of your hand. This makes it all the more important that they have a safe amount of tread life and are in good condition. Properly functioning tires are key for safety, performance and ride quality.

Sewell Subaru Tire Center

It is without a doubt that your tires are the most important part of your vehicle and without them out wouldn't get very far. Which is why when it comes time to get new tires for your Subaru Sewell Subaru is your number one destination. Our highly knowledgeable parts team will find the right tires your Outback, Impreza, or WRX.

When Is It Time For New Tires?

Knowing when it is time to change your tires is important. Tires provide traction and grip on the road for safe driving. So how do you know when it is time for new tires? We have all heard of the penny test, where you stick an upside-down penny in the tire tread to see if you can see Lincolns head. This is an easy way and common way to tell how much tread is left on your tires. If you can see Lincolns head than your tread is too low. Other visible signs that your tires have reached the end of the road is if there are cracks and bulges in the sidewall.  Or if they are completely bald and have no tread left at all.

Importance Of Rotating & Balancing Your Tires

In addition to proper tire tread it is important to have your tires rotated regularly. Rotating your tires helps prevent uneven tread wear and will help extend the life of your tires. When your tires wear unevenly it can increase road noise and cause vibrations in the suspension and steering system. Which will affect the performance of your Subaru. It is also important to have your tires balanced frequently as well to improve your Subarus performance. By having your tires balanced also prevents uneven wear and increases the life of your tires.

What's a four-wheel alignment?

Simply, a four-wheel alignment uses sophisticated lasers and sensors to determine the wheel angles of your Subaru. If the computer detects that they are out of alignment - according to specifications - our factory trained technicians make the proper adjustments to bring them back into alignment.

Having your car aligned - especially when you have new tires installed - will help promote tire longevity. Poor road conditions and daily driving can cause misalignment over time. If you've felt vibrations or your vehicle pulling to one side, a wheel alignment may correct those concerns.

Ever notice this light before?

TPMS Light

Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Light

If the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) light comes on and stays lit while you drive, it is warning you that low tire pressure has been detected in one or more of your tires (excluding the spare). Tire pressure can drop when the weather changes from hot to cold, but it will also decrease if you have an air leak. You can check the pressure yourself. Watch this video about checking the tire pressure on your Subaru.

Remember, a flashing tire light may mean there is a malfunction with the TPMS system or a damaged sensor. You can bring your Subaru to our service center if you have a concern, and we can take care of that light for you.
